What actually happens
Improv teaches one difficult skill: paying full attention to another human while not knowing what happens next.
That skill is most obviously useful on stage. It's more useful in a meeting, a negotiation, a first date and every difficult conversation you've been rehearsing in the shower.
Three sessions. Mostly on your feet. About a third of each group are performers and two thirds are not.
How it works
- 01
Three sessions
Weeknight evenings, 2.5 hours each.
- 02
Yes, and, properly
Everyone's heard the phrase. Almost nobody does it. Session one fixes that.
- 03
Listening drills
The unglamorous core. It's what actually makes improv work.
- 04
Optional showcase
An informal set at an Improv Social. About half take it.
What you'll cover
Session 1, Agreement. 'Yes, and' as a discipline rather than a slogan.
Session 2. Listening. Building on what was actually said, not what you'd prepared.
Session 3. Character and status. Making a choice fast and committing to it.
